My New Obsession

Of course anything American Psycho related catches my eye, but this Christian Bale look-alike, Miles Fisher, not only has (some) acting abilities but also does a great David Byrne cover!
Check our his cover (also covered by the Talking Heads): This Must Be the Place
Nick Nakahara, production and set designer of this music video, was able to recreate Pat Bateman's apartment (American Garden Building, West 81st Street, 11th floor) is because he was the production and set designer for the actual movie. The music video features Lydia Hearst, "reknown" socialite (sigh...honestly their is so much about that statement that bothers me, I mean socialite? come on! they practically are being praised for their abillities for being hangers for designer clothes! their only assest is their bodies! pathetic, if you ask me) who displays her acting abillties (cough cough). Other than the two bags of bones (Hearst and other female co-star) the video isnt half bad, and Fisher's resemblance to Bale is uncanny!

Robert Longo

Robert Longo(pictured here). What can I say about this jaw droppingly amazing artist. Normally, I would speak of his unmatched abilities to make a charcoal or acrylic piece look like a photograph, or even that he has hundreds of these amazing works- but i dont even have words for his genius. He not only has the artistic abillity of Michaelangelo and DaVinci combined, but his works have meaning behind them.
Men In the Cities, his most plangent body of work by far (all done in charcoal). Businessmen and women contorted in diferent positions, seemingly torn apart by their own minds. Longo was quoted as saying "I think I make art for brave eyes. I don't want to make art that will pat you on the back and tell you everything is going to be okay. I want to make something that's much more confronting. You don't look at it, it looks at you as much as you look at it."
He by far is my favorite artist, just by the sheer way I feel when I look at his artwork. I could stare at them for hours, because their is always another corner or another layer that you might have missed. Once again the simplistic nature, with the juxtaposition of the the contrasting black white and grey. Its simplicity gives birth to new layers of depth.

Ship Bee Modernist Architecture

It is no shock that I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur of modern home decor, for I have been designing rooms since I was seven years old. Modern luxury homes have always been my calling, something about the vastness of the rooms mixed with the simplicity the decor and furniture is so appealing to me. The juxtaposition of the contrast colors (black and white), and sometimes with a inspiration color (the one that just pops out of the room giving it life and more definition), is the best part of an modern home. Sometimes, it does not even have to be a home, an apartment cleaned and furnished properly can have the same effect as some of these maginificent homes, especially when it is hidden among the many steel high rises and gives the illusion of a floating room. Some of my favorite "modernists" or architects are: Mies van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright, Antoni Gaudi. Photos are not of these specific modernists, only of some specific styles that I fell in love with. Though some consider modern architecture to be elitist and to be lacking function, I respond that it has quite the opposite. Modern style brings function instead of gaudy adornments, as well as going back to its roots and becoming more simplistic. How could this be considered elitist? These rooms and homes and apartments are a "simplification of form and creation of ornament from the structure and theme of the building" as Wikipedia states (and we all know how reliable this source is).

There really is just something about a seemingly empty, yet clean and crisp room that just makes me appreciate it all the more. Growing up with oriental rugs and ornate middle eastern lamps in a lavish Italian Villa home, one would find it odd that I made such a large switch two the exact opposite type of decor and architecture. To me it just depends on the person, I crave order and yet i do thrive in chaos. So for me, a simple and modern home with a few oddities (like a bed with a moat around it or even a white room's walls spattered with red paint) fits me just fine.

There are no more barriers to cross...

I don't really know what i hope to accomplish with this blog. I have resisted getting one for a while but eventually i just had to cave in and just get one. Most likely I will use this space to dabble into the mind of Ship Bee (simply an alias, I even prefer Bee or even Beezy), consider it an open window into the thought space of a bemused and self proclaimed yuppie. I hope to remain anonymous, for I don't think that people should be labeled by their opinions and personal thoughts. True, I am fairly outspoken and politically driven, but I am merely presenting the facts and juxtaposing my own opinions to the beliefs of the main stream media. I'm young. I'm tired of things not being said. Not being said because of reputations, money, and corruption. I'm here to correct that probIem.
